2019 Ford Escape in Madras OR Offers Power and Versatility

In the wildly popular compact sport-utility segment, you've got to get it right, and that's what Ford has pretty much always done with the 2019 Ford Escape in Madras OR. There are several tightly matched contenders, but the Escape is no slacker and comes out ahead of the rest.

The 2019 Ford Escape is a rare breed of compact crossover that deftly blends performance and utility. Sporty handling and a powerful turbocharged engine make the Escape drive more like a sedan, without sacrificing SUV versatility, making it a best-of-both-worlds choice.

Cargo space ranks near the top of its class and optional all-wheel drive offers more confidence in wet weather; front-wheel drive is standard. The optional 245-horsepower 2.0-liter engine is a blast, but if that's not the kind of power you're looking for there is a better fit engine for you - a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 179 hp. Both engines pair with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Trim Level Options

The 2019 Escape is offered in S, SE, SEL, and Titanium trim levels. The S is the most basic model, though it still comes equipped with its fair share of bells and whistles.  Several buyers opt for the SE trim, which offers an upgraded engine, different wheel package, a power-adjustable driver seat, and other available options. The SEL trim level adds more convenience features, while the top-trim - Titanium - adds luxury touches and an even more powerful engine.

There are three engine options on the 2019 Ford Escape in Madras OR, dependent on the trim level, all of which are four-cylinders. The base is 2.5 liters with 168 horsepower. The other two options are turbocharged EcoBoost, which add power without compromising fuel economy.  The Escape's turbocharged options include a 1.5L with 179 horsepower and a 2.0L with an impressive 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. All engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

Never Sacrifice Comfort

The Ford Escape is a good compact SUV. It has one of the larger cargo capacities in the class, and its well-constructed interior has a decent amount of space. Performance-wise, the Escape shines. Its tight handling and firm suspension contribute to one of the most athletic performances in the class.

What's New for 2019

For the 2019 model year, the 2019 Ford Escape in Madras OR gave up its paddle shifters, CD player and LED taillights. In place of those features, the SEL received new fabric, while remote start, one-touch up/down power windows, and Intelligent Access with push-button start has become standard on the SE and SEL trims. Sync connect was renamed FordPass Connect and is still offered.

Interior

The Escape's interior design remains fresh and exciting, thanks in large to a recent overhaul that brought more soft-touch surfaces, a new steering wheel, and revised gauge cluster and climate controls. The large center-mounted touch screen remains, and several of its functions can be operated via the steering-wheel controls or by voice command. Rear-seat passengers get a bit more knee room thanks to re-contoured front seatbacks. Cargo space is 34 cubic feet but expands to a generous 68 cubic feet with the rear seat folded.

Exterior

Updated in 2017, the Escape's exterior remains fresh with credit given to a recast nose that portrays an edgier character defined by a soft cap, prominent hexagonal grille - which conceals active grille shutters to improve efficiency - sleeker LED-infused headlights, and larger outboard air intakes along with a redrawn aluminum hood. A Sport Appearance Package, available on SE models, aims to bring an edgier vibe with blackout-trim accents, halogen headlights, and 19-inch Ebony Black alloy wheels. For 2019, the Escape gains new colors as well: Agate Black, Baltic Sea Green and Sedona Orange.
