The new 2020 Ford Escape near Redmond OR is the vehicle Ford is betting on to take the place of the several sedan models that are being phased out. This crossover SUV is being touted as more car-like than ever before, featuring a sleeker and lower design that maintains the crossover proportions but abandons the rugged-SUV look.

Smooth Styling Awaits

The 2020 Ford Escape near Redmond OR is the fourth generation of this vehicle, and the second biggest-selling option in the U.S., coming in behind only the F-series pickup trucks. Since the Escape has come in behind some of the competition (mainly the Nissan Rogue, Toyota RAV4, and Honda CR-V) in 2018, Ford is armed for this battle with an array of options.

While the two turbocharged gas engines and a newly revived hybrid model are appealing, Ford is also adding a plug-in hybrid model to the Escape lineup.

The Exterior

While the 2020 Ford Escape near Redmond OR is shorter in proportions and offers smoother lines, it is wider and longer than its predecessor. The roof has been slightly lowered, but the amount of interior space available has increased, with Ford making the claim that legroom and cargo space has been expanded significantly.

Engine Options

The base engine that is offered in the 2020 Escape is a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline three-cylinder engine. This engine is being shared with the Ford Focus hatchback, which is sold in Europe. It's a competitive engine offering 177 lb-ft of torque along with 180 horsepower. These stats make it competitive with the other base engines in its class. The new Escape is also able to tow as much as 2,000 pounds.

This engine has been partnered with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which features front-wheel drive, offering all-wheel drive as an option. Ford has also successfully improved the fuel efficiency of the crossover by about six percent.

Unlike some of its competitors, such as the Rogue, CR-V, and RAV4, the Ford Escape is still offering buyers an upgraded engine on select trim levels.

Optional and Standard Features

Compared to last year's model, the 2020 Ford Escape offers a similar set of trim levels. The base model is the Escape S and climbs up through the SE, SEL, and Titanium models. With the S, SE, and SEL trim levels, the 1.5-liter engine comes standard. For those who opt for the SEL trim, a 2.0-liter option becomes available.

The Titanium trim comes standard as a hybrid model and provides the 2.0T as an option. Also, the hybrid is offered in the SE Sport Trim. Similar to some of the competitors in this class, Ford has made the CoPilot360 set of driver assistance features standard on all models.
